Went to the pool again today, Thursday, just like last week. I was prepared with my swim mask this time and it works great. I got one for like $10 from Walmart. You have to be able to see underwater, or you are missing out. Just makes the swim that much more fun. Besides how else can you see all the bikinis in the water?

I did a better job with the sun block this time I think. Last time I got a little burn on my shoulders, had skin peeling. I think this time was better. I did a lot of laps mainly across the width of the pool which was not bad, but mainly because I didn’t want to swim between the people on the vertical ends of the pool.

There was a group of young teenagers in the pool on one end with the girls trying to pull each others tops off to the amusement of the guys with them. I am not complaining. On the other end, there was a group of older women in bikinis as well. And then there is me in the middle of all this. Needed an in between group.

And finally, my weight is moving well. I weigh myself between 196 and 200 depending on what I am wearing, time of day and whether I had just ate or not. Ideal weight of 185 is not so far off now.

I went to the club house pool today. I have been in this pool maybe 5 times total now, but the weather was really nice today. I think it was some of the best exercise I had in some time yet and it was fun. I think I need to go more often now. I want to get some goggles for when I go. I always lose a contact or two when in the pool or at the beach in the water. Goggles help a lot with that, plus they cover the nose. I took in a lot of water through my nose today.

Other than the fun and water, I am tan skin, and being in the sun for about 2 hours, I am now pretty much black. I like my tan.

When I got home I weighed myself and scale read 197.5. My lightest weight yet since I set the goal of losing weight. Granted I had less clothing on, but being in the pool is a really good work out. My workout routine is still pretty much the same as before, but I am doing a daily fast walk around my community now as well. I started this week and missed yesterday but I think the daily fast walk is good and will continue. The summer is here and this is the best time to start using the pool!

Summer is here. It is already June. Time flying as usual. June starts hurricane season in Florida for 6 months.

Seems my better eating habits and exercise did not pay off as intended. I still need to take Crestor. Regardless. better eating habits and exercise will continue. They must. So that just means everyone should watch what they eat and exercise regularly. I used to exercise a lot, but what really got me here wasn’t just the lack of exercise when I stopped going to the gym. It was a combination of things including not exercising, eating fatty foods, and the type of work I do. I work on the computer all day long, I sit the entire day. This lack of movement, not exercising and eating fatty foods is why.

I loved fried foods, I would eat anything fried. Chicken, fries, shrimp, cauliflower, fish … if you fried it, I probably liked it. Did I mention Crestor is very expensive and the price keeps going up very two or three months it seems. Perhaps I should consider something in the medical field, a huge business that will always be around.

So it will continue. I will watch what I eat, prohibit myself from certain foods. I will exercise weekly, even if it is 2-3 times a week as it is now.

I have stopped drinking soda for a while and that wasn’t bad at all. When I did drink it recently I found it to be very acidic. I also stopped eating fast food, I actually find that it tastes really bad now that I haven’t ate it in a while. In the end it seems like I almost have to be a vegetarian. I need to eat plenty of vegetables, little meat, or avoid eating meat as much as possible. Eggs and cheese are to be avoided as well. And of course junk food is out. Garlic and onions are healthy to eat so I try to have garlic or onion with food I am eating. And I will still eat fruits, I think fruits are fine.

My workout routine as of now goes like this. I go to the gym atleast three times a week, that is every other day, which sometimes can be four times a week. At the gym I do pull ups, the amount I can do, pretty much two. Very pathetic I know, I used to do 15 easy but I was also 150lbs. Now I can only do two, but a few months back I only did one . So I do this so I can strength myself in that again, and get a stretch a bit before I get on the treadmill.

I set the treadmill to random so it inclines and declines randomly. The level setting I put on four, I enter my weight, the time to 30 minutes, and I set my starting speed to 3.5. I walk to warm up at this speed for two minutes, then I increase it to 4.7. I jog/run at 4.7 for 20 minutes, decrease it to 3 for next 4 minutes and then increase it to 4.7 again for final 4 minutes. The machine then has a 5 minute cool down which I keep between 3 and 3.5. So I end up with a total of 35 minutes including the cool down, 400 calories burned and a total of 2.4 miles.

I have also been doing 60 crunches daily and have added 10 declined pushups as well. I do the crunhes sometime in the afternoon, and I have been doing the pushups at night time before going to bed. And that is my workout routine for now, it will probably change as I improve and I will add/subtract as needed.

Workout schedule is way off track, but with reason. I have been busy with family events the past week and have not gone to the gym. Normally this would be a big indicator of intention to quit the workout routine, setting off alarms. But that isn’t the case, I will be back at the gym tomorrow. Further I have started to doing 60 crunches everyday and that has been going on for probably a week, maybe more, so I am still getting something in. This is by no means a replacement to the workout, but an addition, the workout is the main activity. In order to burn calories and burn fat, I need to sweat, and I only do that running on the treadmill. The crunches are just to help shape up a bit.

Which leaves me still in the 200-204lb range. Must break 200 again. Must continue. Flex!

I finally started working on this site. It has almost been a year with this domain ready, and finally a start. What can I say, better late than never. February 2009. A start. I have been going to the gym routinely for the past few months, atleast three times a week. with one exception that I recall being one week when I was sick. Yes you can get sick in Florida and it does get cold, it was mid 40s at most and can’t be compared to the freezing days of New York City with below zero degree temperatures. I can’t stand the cold weather, even mid 40s. On January 28th, for the first time in a long time, my scale said 200lbs. That is right, I did lose weight, in fact this digital scale never read 200 or less with me on it since I got it four years ago. Even more, four days later the scale read 199.5lbs, the first time below 200!!! This all just means that I am working toward my goal and have made good progress. My overall goal is reaching 185-190lbs, preferably 185. Not that I was ever extremely overweight or obese, but I am still over weight.

The old days without responsibility, allowed for daily workouts, basketball, and hanging out. Being a computer programmer (mainly web programming, not that it matters, just like web stuff more ), means you sit all day as you would expect. And that is why I have taken on working out at least three times a week. That and health issues that arise from lack of movement. For now, it is running on a treadmill for 35 minutes. When I reach my goal, I will incorporate weight lifting like I used to do when I was fit .

What is this site going to be about? Obviously me, what I am thinking, feeling, not feeling, making, working, breaking, repairing, editing, changing … anything. A personal blog like everyone else, I know.
