My green parakeet

This is just one of the pictures I took today of my green parakeet. Ever since the blue one got his tail feathers, he has been harder to get to sit on my finger where as the green one has been easier to do so, while she used to be the hard one to do so. The picture was taken with my new awesome rebel xs . I have been having fun with it taking various shots out in the yard, but the yard is limited and I have run out of subjects to shoot.

Looking forward to a good trip/event to shoot some pictures, but at least I am getting a lot of practice with the manual settings. I do have an indoor event this weekend that I will be taking a lot of shots. Should be fun.

So I am trying to learn how to use my new canon rebel xs. I have been reading up on aperture or f-stops, shutter speed and iso and have been taking various shots messing around with these settings. It is a lot to take in at the same time that I keep discovering additional settings. The best shots of course are the ones I keep the mode in auto but that will change. I’d like to get some motion shots which would require me using the manual settings such as night shots of cars driving by. I’d like to also get a zoom lens to get some distance shots of birds, planes, insects, landscape, and anything else.

So here is one good shot I got so far. It is a pink flower among others in my yard. It is a pretty small flower but looks bigger in the photo. I cropped the image to 1920×1080 so it can be used as a wallpaper on my screen. Right click save image as to download the full size picture at 1920×1080. Edit: Added another shot of a lizard I took, also cropped to 1920×1080. Love this camera!

Well today was my birthday. Yes I am now 30, if that means anything. People always make a big deal out of turn 30. I don’t feel any different and I am still young and handsome!

Canon Rebel XS

I went ahead and ordered myself the Canon Rebel XS instead of the XSi. I suppose my own birthday present, it is on it’s way to me and should be here Monday. It would be nice if UPS delivered it this weekend but that is not likely. Looking forward to the camera and hopefully can learn more about how to use the advanced settings. I may have to take a class or maybe pick up a book.

My sister and my nieces had a birthday party for me in a different state, but they made a cake and put the word “kalo” on it. Kalo or Khalo is Arabic for Uncle. Was cute and nice.

And I know, this economy and spending money isn’t the right time but that’s me and gadgets and I also was able to get a tenant for the other property so hopefully that goes smooth and cuts down on some of the bills.
